Run Baby Run...

Apr. 2nd, 2008 | 02:58 pm
mood: cold cold
music: Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings

Since I haven't updated in literally half a year I guess I should start with an update... though I find it a terrible strain to think of anything prominent enough to mention. It's far easier to lay out a single day or week... the last six months are basically a jumble. Picking at the crevices... )

Anyway, I am back. One of the reasons for my return is that I need an excuse to write again. I lost my book. 150+ pages lost to the land of computer crashes and software glitches. And in a twist of bad luck when they were attempting to extract the data from my semi-fried hard drive some type of surge finished the bloody thing off. I SWEAR I had it backed up... but, no. The extensive search has proven futile. I found the first page, but nothing more. ANYWAY, ever since then I've had writer's block. I'd been working on that book for a little less than a year. I was more than half done. That was my baby and now my baby's gone. But it's time to move on... so I return, and I will write no matter how putrid the crap.

And with that I wish you adieu...

(PS... as was always the case, I do my best to read everything you all write because I do care very much, but I cannot guarantee consistent replies. Please don't hold this against me. When I have the time or when I have very strong feelings about a topic I will write. Just please know that I am always here for you if you need me.)

JAPERSWIT? Who's that...?

Apr. 1st, 2008 | 05:12 pm
location: work
mood: back back
music: Matchbox - The Kooks

JAPERSWIT, better known as Aedan, is back in black baby... at least I think I'm back. I needed a break from living on the internet, but I've found I miss the cyber social interactions. Plus I've lost touch with so many good friends... not cool. Basically I miss you all and I miss your advice and support.

Hopefully you will all forgive my absence and allow me to slip back into the program. Hopefully I haven't missed anything too seriously major, but if I did please do tell... or don't, I'll catch on eventually.

That'll be it for now, nothing much, just an announcement of revival.

Love you all...

a good cause...

Nov. 19th, 2007 | 01:56 pm

Hey all... I know I haven't been around in a long while... hell, I haven't checked my personal email in over a month. I'm sorry. I truly am. And, hopefully I'll be getting caught up very soon.

The reason I'm popping in is in an attempt to do a little giving this holiday season. Coke is doing a promotion to raise "Coke Rewards" to give to Toys for Tots. I plan to donate all my Coke points (yeah, I have a slight Coke Zero addiction) throughout the holidays and I'm hoping you'll do the same. Either sign onto their site and set up an account, or if you have no interest in that just post your point codes in response to this post and I'll donate them for you.

Thank you.

I love the new iPod/Tunes commercial. It's vaguely reminiscent of the late 90's GAP commercials.

Oh, and I heart The Fratellis (the band featured in the iPod commercial), and have FINALLY found a copy of their debute album (which hasn't, apparently, been released in the US yet?!). I'm a sucker for British bands, true story.

That's all (for now).
Thank you.

Following [info]charlibrown's lead I've changed my journal layout to something simple and less common thanks to code provided by [info]reversescollide and tweeking provided by my lack of CSS coding skills.

BUT in so doing I had to delete all my friends inorder to change a screwed up color setting... sooooooooooooo... if for any reason you see that I've deleted you let me know cause it was most likely due to this and my skipping a box when re-adding.

Thanks!

Early in the morning...

Dec. 25th, 2006 | 10:04 am
location: on the couch
mood: awake awake
music: something Christmasey

Merry Ho Ho Ho, everyone!

I was lying in bed this morning around 3:30, completely unable to sleep and began thinking about Christmas pasts. Nah, don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to launch into a queer telling of The Christmas Carol... these memories were primarily of the early morning variety; specifically between the hours of 4am and 5am. You can’t imagine the extent of trouble three small children can get into during the waking hour of Christmas morn.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day... back before church crept in and invaded every waking (and some not so waking) hour of our holiday lives (and of course way back before church crept out)... my brothers and I would rise at the first sign of... well, at the first realization that it was Christmas morning. Whoever realized this fact first came to rouse the last two who were still, foolishly, sleeping warmly in their beds.

By no means can I remember specific years or who played the rooster during most of these events, but the basic story line would be near impossible to forget.

Now we did all the normal stuff kids do in order to be sneaky. We knew full well that we weren’t to open any wrapped gifts before Mom and Dad got up and made their coffee, but there were no rules guarding the contents of our stockings. Getting into our Santa loot was quite the quest. First we had to actually get into the living room which involved scaling one of those “keep the children/animals out” fences, a difficult feat given our short stature. Lucky for Scott and me, our big brother, though only three years my senior, was already growing into his destined height of being disturbingly tall (present day he stand at 6’9”) and was capable of pulling our midget butts over the gate. Then we would meander into the room filled with toys and stare up at the next leg of our journey: three full stockings lying in wait at the top of the mantel. Reaching said stockings was difficult even for the future giant but we of course eventually managed, even if it meant pulling down all the mantel decorations in the process.

One year we decided the parents were taking way too long to get up so we tried to break into wrapped gifts and rewrap them. We only got through one or two packages before realizing we’d never get away with this. One year we decided to get the parents up early and have coffee waiting for them. I believe I was in charge of brewing the beverage. I also believe that it was so thick a spoon could stand up right in it. Who knew a (very) little bit of water and the majority of a bag of beans did not a pot of coffee make?!? But my favorite and most vividly remembered year involved a much noisier start to the day.

Picture this, a very sleepy me and a toddling Scott standing, yawning, clad in pajamas, Scott’s arms wrapped securely around his Kanga and green blankee, neither of us anywhere close to being even half awake, staring up at a bouncing Adam who is claiming to have just seen Santa outside wheeling our new bikes up and under the porch. Well, of course this news sprang Scott and me into action. Figuring we could take the shiny new toys for a spin before the ‘rents woke up, we checked out the window to be sure the coast was clear (we didn’t want Santa to see us out of bed... he may have taken our gifts back!) before working together to unlock and pull open the big, heavy front door. SUCCESS! The door was opening and we were mere seconds from our pretty new bikes... but, wait, what the hell??? What’s that awful noise? We had tripped both the indoor and outdoor alarms and they were howling something fierce. Dad flew into the room, they got everything turned off and answered the phone when the security company called to make sure we were okay.
That was the year the ENTIRE neighborhood got up before the sun.

It took many years there after for me to figure out why it was that Santa never tripped the alarms.

Okay, well there are many more tales but that’s enough for now.

Have a wonderful day all! Hugs and loves!

Anyway, yeah.

bastard ass...

Nov. 6th, 2006 | 01:44 pm

I've lost all respect for Senator McCain who, once upon a time, was a semi-liberal Republican (or at least he was more "middle of the road" than most Republicans) but is now a presidential candidate hopeful so he's hooking up with the Fundamental Christians in order to get the usual Republican backing (fucker needs to grow some balls, yes he does!). I just found out that he is apparently doing commercials for "Yes on 107" which is the proposition that would take away rights from people living in domestic partnerships (gay or straight, including senior citizens who opt for domestic partnership over remarriage for fear of losing pension and healthcare provided to them through a deceased spouse). The support pro and against seem pretty evenly split which is probably because most people assume it only affects the evil gay folk.

Please Vote No on 107... it doesn't just hurt the queers, it affects your mom and dad and grandma and grandpa as well... and even if it didn't, it's still wrong and purely hateful.

And in nonArizona news... ummm... I don't really have any. Maybe later... ciao.

So my little Arizona heart has been adequately snowed upon. That was kinda awesome, except that it meant I couldn’t drive.

Yesterday I learned something that really really pissed me off, which is a difficult task given I'm so passive and all kinds of que sera sera. I think I'm mostly pissed because my good named was sullied and I wasn't there to defend myself. Even though the slander wasn't believed, it still annoys me that an undeserved black mark hovers over me. Gerrr... and that is all I have to say about that.

ALSO, since I’m a vehicular curse, Mr. Logan ended up having a flat tire. That was some fun stuff... getting up way too early after going to bed way too late in order to get it changed. We must find this boy a spare and the tools required to put on said spare, mmmhmmm. Yesterday, when we were trying to get enough air into it to get us to the tire place, we blew up his little portable air compressor. Excellent! lalala

Last night the incredibly hot Meg, the wonderfully sexy Logan, and I went to a drag show... it was tres magnifique. I totally had a stage whore moment and wished I could perform too. And I didn’t flip out over being around so many new people... so yay me.

Tonight is LWord night. Monday is karaoke night. We are also having some crazy Guitar Hero fun... w00t. I’m having a fantastically wonderful trip. If only I felt better... ahhwell.

Okay, that is all. <3s and loves.

boob tube update...

Oct. 24th, 2006 | 10:08 am
location: workey work

music: My Door - Bob Gentry

Okay, like so many of my friends, I've fallen in love with NBC's HEROES. I'm all kinds of addicted. But I have two complaints:
1. They really need to come up with a different method for their subtitles. The white words bouncing all over the screen are exceedingly difficult to read, perticularly when it's a bright/light scene. What's wrong with putting the words in a black box at the bottom of the picture like regular subtitles?... or, if they don't what to divert your eyes from the picture, how about outlining the white words with a semi-thick black, that way the lettering stands out? I mean, seriously, was this their only option? I kinda doubt it. Any first year graphic arts student could tell you that this is not typographically sound.
2. Why the hell did the slogan have to be: *whispered* Save the cheerleader. Save the world.??? It seriously sounds all kinds of korney. But that's just me...

All and all... I love me some Heroes!

Also, thoroughly addicted to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Last night's was my favorite thus far. Aaron Sorkin did it again... this guy's a master!

Tonight is Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars... yay. I <3 the Tuesday night CW chickies!!!

That is all. Thank you.

Ohh... except... it's a new week, it's another round (same song though, so don't be confused)... so go now and...

Gay Rights

Oct. 2nd, 2006 | 02:43 pm

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
